Snugpak Softie Chrysalis Technology Details
Snugpak's Softie Chrysalis bags give versatility to tackle any trip. The key to it's ability is controlling temperature and comfort by being able to transform from a warm, snug sleeping bag, into a cool and spacious sleeping bag.
The bag boasts all the features of a traditional sleeping bag but the jumbo zip baffle can be opened out to give much more room within the sleeping bag. The extra space within the bag allows more air to move around keeping the bag cooler. This temperature management gives your bag much more flexibility allowing you to confidently select a product that can perform in a range of different conditions, si if the temperature drops you zip the sleeping bag tighter and instantly boost the performance.

Stage 1
At first glance another sleeping bag - the chrysalis expander is not deployed. Use it like you would any other sleeping bag.

Stage 2
In normal use the expander works as a super chunky zip baffle sealing the zip from draughts. Two way zips allow venting.

Stage 3
Undo the internal retaining zip and the baffle opens out into a stretchy panel of insulated material.

Stage 4
The chrysalis expander panel allows between 10cm and 22cm extra sleeping space at maximum expansion

Stage 5
Once completely unzipped the retaining zip then slides into the external zip and reseals, giving a much wider bag.

Stage 6
After only a few moments the transformation is complete, the bag now allows a greater degree of movement.

Snugpak Sleeping Bags - Material Details
All Snugpak's fabrics are treated with a Durable Water Repellent (DWR) finish - water repellency can be maintained by a cool tumble dry after washing and periodic re-treatment with suitable aftercare products such as Nikwax or Grangers

Paratex Light
Lightweight highly windproof water repellent fabrics, exceptionally breathable and able to wick moisture away from source, ideal for sleeping bag linings and mid layer insulated clothing

Paratex Micro
Ripstop sleeping bag casing fabric exceptionally tough but still just as brathable and wind proof as the Paratex light

Reflectatherm
This metallised fabric is designed to reflect heat and retain warmth. A highly breathable material, which adds little to the weight or packsize of the product and provides at least 15% additional warmth whilst being undetectable by touch in the sleeping bag.

Softie
The brand name for the synthetic (Polyester) filling Snugpak use for the softie range of sleeping bags. It uses superfine yarns bound with special resins to produce a luxurious down like feel. The yarns used are staple yarns as they are natural insulations that closely resemble the structure of natural down. It is easy to care for, washable, yet still retains a lot of its thermal properties when wet.
