It's filled with the finest quality European goose down with a fill power of 800+. That's just about the most thermally efficient down you could hope to find - for its weight and bulk, it's astonishingly warm.
The Daybreak Vest has been designed from the ground up to maximise the properties of this scarce, remarkable and, let's be honest, fairly expensive filling. It's a stripped back, highly engineered design which provides everything you need and nothing you don't. Pure function without the fancy frills or frivolous flourishes.
The outer is an extremely light 100% polyamide which has been finished with our innovative Durable Water Repellent treatment. It's highly resistant to the ingress of moisture, completely windproof and, for its remarkably light weight, highly durable.
It features two zipped hand pockets with easy-grab pullers and a full-length front zip with a wind-flap, an anti-snag strip and a chin-guard. The hem adjusts with an elastic drawcord enabling you to fine-tune the fit and keep the heat where you want it - on the inside.
The whole vest packs down into one of the zipped side pockets to form an amazingly compact package, small enough to slip into a corner of your day-sack or carry-on bag.
A Note on Fill Power Ratings: Fill power is the most frequently used measure of the quality of down. Deriving a fill power rating involves putting a one ounce sample of down in a test cylinder and compressing it with a weighted piston. The more resistant it is to compression, the higher its fill power rating. Essentially, it's a measure of how much the jacket will expand when it comes out its stuff sack (or Packpocket) - the more it expands, the more air it can trap and the warmer it is. Fill power is expressed in cubic inches per ounce - a lofting power of 400-450 is considered medium quality, 500-750 is considered good and 750+ is considered excellent. At Rohan, we like to use the best and nothing else - the down we specify has a fill power of 800+.

Features Windguard Rating: Total - Wind speed is just as important a variable in determining your comfort as absolute temperature. Rohan award garments one of two ratings: High offers an almost complete barrier to the wind. Total offers a complete barrier.
ColdGuard: High - Rohan clothing is made from technically-advanced fabrics which dry quickly and offer a high level of thermal efficiency. Insulating garments are awarded one of four ratings: Base, Medium, High and Very High.
Security Rating: x2 - Many garments features dedicated secure pockets to store travel essentials such as passports, tickets, phones or wallets. Rohan's security rating indicates the number of secure or hidden pockets. Regular pockets are not included in this total.
