Description
Men's Inner Flame Jacket - Keep warm when it's cold. Keep warm when it's wet.
Keeping warm in the British hills is a real challenge. In winter, it can get pretty cold - but it's very rarely 'arctic' cold. Typically, the temperature's hovering around zero - which means there's always a lot of water around.
Melting snow is wet, sleety rain is wet, condensed sweat is wet. And, given that the key to keeping warm is trapping air - dry air - with your clothing, all these things can be bad news. If you're not wearing the right gear.
Our Inner Flame Jacket is designed for exactly these sorts of conditions - the kind of cold, damp, miserable, soul-destroying weather that us British walkers seem to relish!
The lining is an extremely advanced synthetic wadding called Insuloft. Essentially, it mimics natural down; it's made up of millions of tiny fibres which trap lots of air. It's big advantage over natural down, though, is that its performance isn't really impaired when it gets wet. Which is a big bonus.
It's also extremely quick drying and very durable. Unlike other cheaper synthetic waddings, which can break down after just a few seasons, our Insuloft lining will be keeping you warm for many years to come.
It also provides a lot of insulation for its bulk so you can layer up without feeling over-encumbered - or looking like the Michelin Man. There are different weights of fill in the body and the sleeves.
The Inner Flame Jacket is compatible with all our Interchange shells so you can link it up and turn your waterproof into a full-blown winter coat which can be put on or removed with the minimum of fuss.
The shell is a hard-wearing polyamide with our Durable Water Repellency finish. It's windproof, quick drying and shower resistant so the Inner Flame makes a great stand-alone jacket too.
It features two zipped, fleece-lined hand pockets which are at mid-height to clear a rucksack hip belt. There's an internal stretch mesh pocket which doubles as a Packpocket into which the whole jacket packs for convenient storage or transport.
The chin, the collar and the cuffs are all lined with fleece for extra comfort and warmth. Adjustable cuffs and hem allow you vary the ventilation and fine-tune the fit.
All in all, the Inner Flame Jacket is one of the most versatile, useful jackets you can pack. In the outdoors, wear it any time a fleece isn't quite warm enough; link it into a Rohan shell to make a fantastic skiing jacket; wear it around town on chilly days or stick it in your carry-on bag for winter city breaks. It'll take all this - and much more - comfortably in its stride.
